　　Qidong straw mats have a long history. Around the year 1400, Qidong began producing straw mats. These mats are meticulously crafted, featuring smooth and flat surfaces with elegant and tasteful patterns. They are brightly colored, soft, and durable. Sleeping on these straw mats in summer keeps sweat from sticking to the body, offering a cool and comfortable feel. Especially notable is the natural fragrance of the mat grass, which gives a refreshing sense of the wilderness. Qidong straw mats are sold all over China and exported to seven or eight countries and regions around the world. Besides being used for weaving, the mat grass is also a raw material for making high-quality paper. Its perennial roots and the white core inside the stems (commonly known as rush pith) can be used medicinally, with effects such as clearing heat and toxins, promoting urination, and improving digestion.
