Big Muyang Bayberries
Big Muyang Village is located next to the Baiyun Lake scenic area in Chengbu. The village is covered with ancient trees and boasts a pristine ecological environment, with 88 households and a population of 460. Under the guidance of the Rulin Town Party Committee and government, the village introduced bayberry cultivation in 2002. All households in the village now grow bayberries on over 500 acres of land, with an average of 30 to 40 trees per person. These include several high-quality varieties such as the Zhejiang “Water Chestnut” bayberry, Jing County “Mudong” bayberry, and “Dongkui” bayberry. It is estimated that once all trees reach full production, the per capita income of the village could increase by 30,000 to 40,000 yuan.
To promote the development of the bayberry industry and rural tourism in Big Muyang Village, the Rulin Town Party Committee and government have guided residents in variety improvement while organizing growers to enhance product packaging and quality. They have also leveraged platforms like Weibo and WeChat for extensive promotion. Nowadays, the bayberry harvest season has become the peak tourist period in the village, attracting a continuous stream of visitors from both within and outside the county. Both the bayberry industry and rural tourism are showing strong momentum.
