Angus cattle
Angus cattle are a world-renowned small, early-maturing beef breed originating from the Aberdeenshire and Angus regions of Scotland. They have a solid black coat, are naturally polled (hornless), have a round body, short legs, a short neck, and a well-rounded loin and hindquarters. They grow quickly, reaching a weight of 450 kilograms by 15–18 months of age, with a daily weight gain of about 1 kilogram. Bulls can weigh between 700–750 kilograms, while cows weigh around 500 kilograms. The slaughter rate is 60–65%. The meat is tender, flavorful, and marbled. Angus cattle are known for their early maturity, rapid growth, ability to thrive on coarse feed, and strong adaptability, maintaining excellent meat production even in harsh environments. The national-level purebred Angus cattle breeding farm in Qixingjie Town, Lianyuan City, is the only large-scale breeding farm of its kind in our province.
