Hebei Fine-Wool Sheep

Also known as Bashang Fine-Wool Sheep. Bred in Fengning, Hebei. The head is of moderate size, with a raised nasal bridge. Rams have spiral-shaped horns; ewes may be hornless or have horn stubs. The neck is thick and short. Rams have around two complete or incomplete transverse skin folds. The chest is deep and wide, with sturdy and strong limbs, a flat back and loin, making them suitable for grazing. The entire body is covered in white wool. Fully closed fleece type, well-set, with facial hair extending to the line connecting the eyes, the forehead resembling a pom-pom, and leg hair reaching the wrist joint on the forelegs. Hind legs have fleece up to the hock, and abdominal hair is relatively short. They exhibit good meat and wool production performance. The fleece is uniform in quality, with normal crimp, moderate lanolin content, appearing white or light yellow and glossy. The wool locks contain no dead or medullated fibers, are dense, fine in texture, and yield high. The meat is tender and delicious.
