Chengde Fiddlehead Ferns
Fiddlehead ferns, also known as lucky ferns or longevity ferns, are wild plants. Rich in nutrients, they contain 1.6 mg of carotene and 35 mg of vitamin C per gram, along with various minerals. Fiddleheads can be eaten fresh or pickled and processed for long-term consumption
Chengde is one of China’s main production areas for fiddlehead ferns. As early as the Qing Dynasty, the ferns from Chengde were regarded as imperial tributes, and local residents also greatly enjoy dishes cooked with fiddleheads. Chengde’s fiddlehead ferns are not only popular domestically but are also exported to Japan, earning praise from both domestic and international consumers. (Chengde)
