Basha Celery
Basha celery is a geographical indication agricultural product.
Basha celery features large, tender stalks, a fragrant and crisp texture, and high nutritional value, earning widespread recognition among consumers.
In recent years, Yishui County has prioritized "Basha celery" as a key agricultural industry. The Yishui Basha Vegetable Production and Sales Cooperative was established, the "Basha" trademark was registered, and the product obtained national Ministry of Agriculture certification as a pollution-free celery production area and product. The produce is uniformly packaged and sold to regions including Jiangsu, Dalian, Yantai, and Qingdao. With a perennial planting area of 4,500 mu, the annual output reaches 20,000 tons of high-quality celery, generating an annual output value of approximately 40 million yuan.
Recently, Yishui County’s "Basha celery" was officially recognized as a national geographical indication agricultural product, receiving protection. This marks the fifth local agricultural product to earn this distinction, following Mengshan Longwu, Yishui Ginger, Yishui Apples, and Yishui Cherries. The certification holds significant importance for increasing product added value, enhancing market competitiveness, and boosting farmers’ incomes.

Product Quality Characteristics
1. External Sensory Features: The celery varieties are all local types, traditionally propagated through retained seeds. They are characterized by yellow stalks, straight stems, semi-hollow centers, large and tender growth, strong disease resistance, a fragrant and crisp texture, rich nutrition, superior quality, good mouthfeel, strong flavor, and high nutritional value. The product exhibits the natural quality traits of pollution-free celery—normal quality, no deterioration, no off-odors; the produce is clean and free of foreign matter. The sensory quality of pollution-free celery should meet the quality characteristics of the corresponding physical standard sample for this category, or comply with the quality requirements set by relevant national, industry, local, or corporate standards for conventional celery varieties. 2. Internal Quality Indicators: The distinctive qualities of Basha celery are inseparable from its unique morphology and intrinsic nutritional composition. Tests show that 100g of Basha celery typically contains: Vitamin C: 12–16 mg, phosphorus: 35–40 mg, calcium: 130–140 mg, iron: 2–3 mg, sugar: 0.8–1.2%, and crude fiber: less than 1.0%.
