Yao Dianzi Ginger
Yao Dianzi Town in Linyi City, Shandong Province, is located in the heart of the Yimeng Mountain area, covering a total area of 78 square kilometers with 45,000 mu of arable land. It is the largest ginger distribution hub in the Yimeng Mountain region. The unique climate, water sources, and soil conditions are ideal for ginger cultivation, producing ginger of superior quality — bright yellow and glossy in color, with thick, long, and plump ginger "ears," flat and regular-shaped ginger bodies, delicate ginger threads, pure taste, rich fragrance, and high nutritional value, meeting the standards of green “pollution-free” produce.
The town focuses on regionalized and large-scale agricultural production, intensive and industrialized management, and the promotion of standardized farming practices to further consolidate and expand its traditional pillar industry of ginger cultivation, while striving to cultivate distinctive local economic sectors. Currently, 25,000 mu of ginger are cultivated, with an average yield of 3.5 tons per mu. The county produces around 280,000 tons of ginger annually, generating an output value of 1.4 billion yuan. There are 49 ginger cooperatives across the county, 22 leading enterprises engaged in ginger processing, including 13 with self-operated export rights and 3 certified by importing countries. The county processes and exports 200,000 tons of ginger annually, earning over 40 million US dollars in foreign exchange, with products sold to more than ten countries and regions including the EU, South Korea, Japan, Singapore, Indonesia, and Malaysia. Among them, Xujiahu and Yuandongtou towns maintain a stable planting area of around 50,000 mu year-round, with over 60% of farmers’ income derived from the ginger industry.
