Longnan Tàngpí
Tàngpí is a delicious snack beloved by the Hakka people for serving guests and enjoying at home. It is a local favorite, also known as Tiěbǎn Gān (板皮 / Làpí), a distinctive specialty of southern Jiangxi Hakka cuisine. Made primarily from rice, it undergoes processes such as soaking, grinding into batter, and steaming. As a natural and green food product, the finished tàngpí comes in flaky sheets, characterized by its bright color and deliciously fragrant, crispy, and crunchy texture. During the agricultural off-seasons in autumn and winter each year, every household in southern Jiangxi’s rural areas makes tàngpí, which can be pan-fried, stir-fried, steamed, or boiled after drying. It is deeply loved by both locals and visitors. It is reported that during the 5th China Navel Orange Festival, tàngpí was served as a signature Hakka delicacy to welcome guests from afar, winning widespread acclaim for its crispy, fragrant taste that leaves a lingering aftertaste.
