Wild mussels
Wild mussels
Dried scallops are a type of bivalve. The mussel meat is commonly called "water vegetable." They are named "dried scallops" because they are dried without the addition of salt. The mussel shells are triangular, measuring 2 to 3 inches in length, with root-like silky filaments attached to rocks. They are found in coastal waters, with flesh that is red-purple in color, delicious in taste, and valued as a nutritious food as well as for medicinal purposes.
