Shucheng Chestnuts
Shucheng County is known as the "Hometown of Chestnuts," with a chestnut cultivation history spanning 2,000 to 3,000 years. The "Dahongpao" chestnuts produced here are large in size and rich in nutritional value. They contain 36.5 milligrams of vitamin C per 100 grams of fresh sample and 10.54 milligrams of total soluble sugar per 100 grams of fresh sample. The dry samples contain 26.57% starch, 7.24% crude protein, and 1.745% crude fat.
Regular consumption can help prevent diseases such as hypertension, coronary heart disease, arteriosclerosis, and osteoporosis, making it a nourishing delicacy for anti-aging and longevity. Currently, our county has developed products such as chestnut canned food and chestnut cake powder. Braised Chicken with Chestnuts is a traditional famous dish in Shucheng.
