Foshan Crisp
Foshan Crisp
Created by an elderly monk at Huiming Chan Temple on Shifo Mountain in Yao Village. It is neither like ordinary crisp candy nor like peanut crisp. Made by grinding roasted peanuts into powder and mixing them with sesame powder, glutinous rice flour, white sugar, maltose, and other ingredients, it was once a premium treat served by the abbot during festivals to honored guests. Resembling crisp candy but not quite the same, it is sweet, soft, crumbly without sticking to the teeth, and pleasantly sweet without being cloying, making it a top-tier pastry.
