It has a cultivation history of over 200 years. This fruit boasts a wide adaptability, strong resistance, cold tolerance, moisture tolerance, poor soil tolerance, pest and disease resistance, and easy cultivation and management. The fruit is rectangular in shape, large with abundant flesh, sweet and refreshing without seeds. The largest fruits weigh over 250 grams, and the highest yield per plant can reach up to one ton. It is rich in sugar and other nutrients, offering cooling, heat relief, cough suppression, and blood pressure lowering properties. Besides being consumed fresh, the persimmon pulp can also be made into dried persimmons or persimmon cakes. It can replace grains in making wine, vinegar, and medicine. Due to its high quality and yield, strong economic benefits, and popularity among people, it is considered one of the excellent varieties in our province and holds great development potential.

The seedless square persimmon has been passed down through generations for over 200 years, with the region’s peak annual production reaching over 50 tons and individual tree yields of 500–1,000 kilograms. The Changbei seedless square persimmon holds high economic value, as every part of it is useful. The persimmon fruit features a beautiful color, sweet and refreshing taste with very little astringency. It helps lower blood pressure, stop bleeding, clear heat, and promote smooth bowel movements. Its vitamin A and C content is higher than that of apples and pears. The baked persimmon frost treats sore throat, mouth ulcers, lung heat cough, and hemoptysis. Persimmon juice extracted and mixed with rice soup or milk can serve as an emergency remedy for hypertension or stroke risks. Persimmon calyxes can treat persistent hiccups caused by cold. The vitamin C content in persimmon leaves reaches 2,700 mg per 100 grams of fresh leaves—10 to 50 times higher than that of dates, citrus, or kiwifruit. Processed into persimmon leaf tea, they help prevent arteriosclerosis and treat insomnia due to neurasthenia. Burnt persimmon peel mixed with vegetable oil is remarkably effective in treating burns. Persimmon flowers are also an excellent source of nectar, while persimmon wood, fine and hard, is suitable for making high-quality furniture. In summer, the large and dense persimmon leaves provide good shade, making it an ideal tree for greening. Propagation is done by grafting onto lilac rootstocks, with fruit appearing within three to five years, which is highly favored by farmers.
