The Taihang Qixia Cluster is located in Hejiaping Village, Luoluo Town, southwest of Xingtai County, facing Heshun County in Shanxi Province. It lies 65 kilometers from downtown Xingtai, spans a touring area of 18 square kilometers, and consists of 24 gorges, eight of which stretch over a kilometer in length. It embodies the majestic grandeur of northern mountains while also showcasing the delicate beauty of southern landscapes. The Qixia Cluster boasts three wonders: first, the narrow and deep valley floors; second, the steep, vertical cliff walls; and third, the clustered occurrence of these gorges, along with over ten miles of clear pools and waterfalls, as well as tens of thousands of acres of pristine secondary forests. The Qixia Cluster is characterized by its long, narrow, steep, profound, crimson-hued, and clustered features, making it a magnificent spectacle among the 800-li Taihang Mountains. Experts acclaim it as the “Taihang Qixia.” The rocks of the Qixia Cluster are mostly red — geologically known as quartz sandstone. Around 1.4 billion years ago, this area was a shallow sea environment. Red quartz sand deposits later solidified into these rock layers under high temperature and pressure. Through the Yanshan orogeny, the mountains folded, and over millions of years, flowing water carved and eroded the landscape into the unique topography seen today. There are over 50 major attractions, such as: Eagle Rock, Dragon Pool Waterfall, White Cloud Homestead, Huang Chao Temple, Horse-Riding Plank Road, Divine Well, Heaven’s Crack, Sky-Supporting Pillar, Twin Camel Peaks, Five-Finger Mountain, Lovers’ Peak, Viewing Platform, Twin Turtles Playing with Rocks, Dragon Head Cliff, Suspended Coffins, Cloud Cliff Scattering Pearls, Lion Emerging from the Mountain, Little Stone Forest, Xinglong Temple, Ape Man Skull, Twin Lion Rocks, Relief Carvings, Resting Gorge Rainbow, and Ji Gong Viewing the Sea. The Qixia Cluster Scenic Area is a remarkable wonder among the 800-li Taihang Mountains and is acclaimed by experts as the “Taihang Qixia.”
