Chifeng Martyrs' Cemetery is located on the second main peak of Nanshan Mountain in Chifeng City. Established in 1947 to commemorate the Soviet soldiers who sacrificed their lives during the War of Resistance against Japan, the cemetery was relocated to its current site in 1992. Covering an area of 33,000 square meters, the cemetery is divided into two sections: one for revolutionary martyrs and one for Soviet soldiers. It consists of two monuments (one Chinese and one Soviet) and a wall of heroes, commemorating the names of 6,582 martyrs from Chifeng. The site also includes an exhibition hall for martyrs’ relics, a memorial data archive, a Peace Square, and more. The remains of 40 Soviet soldiers who died in Chifeng during the War of Resistance are buried here. The city ruins consist of eastern and western sections, with a layout shaped like a “”. The two sections are of equal size, each side of the wall measuring 500 meters, making the total perimeter six Chinese li. The remaining walls are 15 meters wide and 3–5 meters high, built with rammed earth. At the southwestern, northwestern, and southeastern corners of the city site, the remains of corner towers with diameters of about 15 meters are preserved, and the layout of structures within the city is relatively distinct. The main palace structure of the western city is situated in the center, with a square platform base about 1 meter high and 150 meters on each side. The platform is rich in architectural remnants. Numerous small earthen platforms around the main structure were likely auxiliary buildings.
