The Hohhot Arctic Light Ski Resort is located in the Wusutu National Forest Park in Hohhot, Inner Mongolia. The first phase of the project includes four beginner slopes, two intermediate slopes, and one advanced slope—each offering its own thrill and bringing you the breathtaking sight of “silver-snaking mountains” and a variety of exhilarating skiing experiences. In addition, the resort offers a range of top-notch leisure and entertainment activities including dog sledding, snow saunas, snowmobile rides, snow disc flying, scenic cable car rides, and ice lake crossings. These provide an unprecedented level of excitement and a kaleidoscope of exotic charm. Skiing is an exhilarating and challenging sport that helps young people stay fit and healthy. Nowadays, tourism is growing into one of the world’s largest and fastest-growing industries. Especially since the 1990s, the development of tourism in our city has drawn increasing attention from domestic and international visitors, with tourist numbers rising year by year. Our city is located in a cold temperate zone, and it’s been a pity that winter tourism had not been developed. The establishment of the Arctic Light Ski Resort in the Wusutu National Forest Park fills this gap in our city’s winter tourism offerings. In December 2006, the Hohhot Youth League Committee officially established a Winter Camp Base for teenagers at the Arctic Light Ski Resort. This allows children to enjoy the endless fun of snow sports in winter, get exercise, and cultivate their sentiments. The Arctic Light Ski Resort has imported the world’s most advanced snowmaking machines, chairlifts, cable cars, snowmobiles, and other equipment from countries such as the United States and Canada. This lays a solid foundation for providing visitors with the highest quality snow, as well as the safest and most comfortable skiing environment.

Here, thousands of miles are frozen, vast snowy plains are draped in silver, and hundreds of miles of rime are crystal-clear and enchanting, resembling a fairy-tale world. Winter tourism is in full swing. In winter, all colors merge into one under the white blanket, presenting a landscape of ice-carved and jade-like northern scenery. The Arctic Light Ski Resort offers you a series of highly attractive and challenging recreational activities, including skiing, snowboarding, ice skating, camel-pulled sleigh rides, dog sledding, horse-drawn sleigh rides, snowmobile rides, horseback riding and camel trekking, snowball fights, and snowman building. The ski resort also specially presents sports events such as eco-hunting, snow wrestling, snow tug-of-war, and snow horse racing, as well as snowmobile performances and snow fireworks. At the same time, it hosts a series of cultural and entertainment activities such as ice-and-snow-themed cultural tours, ice and snow photography exhibitions, and ethnic song and dance evenings.

Snow Disc: The Snow Disc is a group activity suitable for families, especially children and women, where the whole family can fully enjoy teamwork. The spinning discs float down from above, placing you at the center of happiness. Snowmobile: The pursuit of speed is always a thrilling moment in sports. Racing against time, snowmobile riders speed across the white expanse and feel the soft texture of the snow. Visitors can fully experience the thrill of speeding through the snowfields and the rush of the wind, feeling the excitement usually only seen in movies and TV. Ice Sculptures: Using massive blocks of ice and various advanced electronic tools, artisans carve intricate and translucent shapes. The annual Ice and Snow Festival invites ice sculpture masters from around the world to compete, including those from Canada, Sweden, Finland, Japan, Russia, and Romania.

The ski resort hosted the “First Arctic Light Ice and Snow Festival” in 2005. The theme of the festival was “Experience the Joy of Ice and Snow, Feel the Thrill of Snow Sports.” You will experience the winter charm of the northern grasslands, admire ice and snow sculptures, enjoy the Lantern Festival light displays, and take part in public skiing competitions. The Arctic Light Ice and Snow Festival began on November 1, 2005. Industry insiders analyze that the winter tourism boom symbolizes the diversification of Inner Mongolia’s tourism industry. In the past, when people thought of traveling to Inner Mongolia, they would immediately envision the majestic and desolate landscapes of “long rivers under setting suns” and “lonely smoke over vast deserts,” as well as the expansive grassland scenery of “where the wind blows low, revealing grazing sheep and cattle.” However, with the rise of “specialty tourism” and “adventure tourism,” the Arctic Light Ski Resort highlights the advantages of “off-season tourism.” Leveraging its regional characteristics of over 150 days of snow cover and an average annual snowfall of more than 30 millimeters, the resort offers a variety of snow and ice entertainment activities, snow culture events, and skiing competitions, attracting batches of visitors.
