Aokelidui Mountain Ice and Snow Eco-Tourism Area is located about 20 kilometers north of Arongshan Town, Genhe City, Hulunbuir, and approximately 120 kilometers from downtown Genhe.

Aokelidui Mountain stands at an elevation of 1,520 meters. It is the highest peak in the northern section of the Greater Khingan Mountains and one of the top ten scenic wonders of Hulunbuir.

"Aokelidui Mountain" means "the highest peak, the ox head mountain" in the Ewenki language.

Genhe is connected to Aokelidui Mountain by both railway and highway. The nearest point on the railway to the Aokelidui Mountain tourism area is 5 kilometers away; the highway is 2 kilometers from the foot of the mountain, offering very convenient transportation and communication conditions.

As the tourism area is located deep within a primeval forest, it maintains a relatively pristine ecosystem of flora and fauna. There are also several other well-known nearby attractions, such as Crescent Bay, Footprint Lake, One-Line Sky, Wind-Moved Rock, and Frog-Crying Mountain. Due to temperature and altitude influences, Aokelidui Mountain is the earliest snow-covered and latest melting dormant volcano in China. The mountaintop is covered with perennial snow, with an average snow cover period of over 240 days per year. Moreover, the snow layer is thick, and the snow quality is pure, making it an excellent destination for ice and snow activities. The scenery of Aokelidui Mountain in spring and summer is also stunning, with the Jiliuhe River winding around the mountain like a jade ribbon. The foothills are filled with blooming flowers, birdsong, and fragrant air; the mid-slopes are painted with colorful forests, while the mountaintop remains snow-capped, creating a captivating landscape that has earned it the nickname “China’s Mount Fuji” among visitors. The area is also home to many reindeer herds, which leave in spring and return in winter. In the glow of sunset and dawn, the melodious sound of reindeer bells weaves a harmonious natural symphony. Visitors to this area can not only witness the grandeur of nature and freely express their emotions toward it but also gain a deeper understanding and experience of the cultural essence of returning to the forest and nature.
