Genhe Source National Wetland Park in the Greater Khingan Mountains is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction and a national wetland park.

With a total area of 59,060.48 hectares, Genhe Source National Wetland Park in the Greater Khingan Mountains includes various wetland areas covering 20,291.01 hectares, making up 34.36% of the total. The park encompasses diverse ecosystems such as forests, swamps, rivers, and lakes. Forests and wetlands are intermingled and remain in their primitive or natural state. It serves as a breeding ground for numerous East Asian waterfowl and currently represents one of China’s most well-preserved and typical temperate wetland ecosystems. The main body of the park—the Genhe River—is one of the largest tributaries of the Erguna River, playing a crucial role in supplying water to the Erguna and ensuring its aquatic ecological safety, while also maintaining the ecological security of the Hulunbuir Grassland.

Genhe Source National Wetland Park has been praised by experts as the “Natural Museum of China’s Cold Pole Wetlands” and the “Mount Everest of China’s Environmental Education.” It is a multifunctional destination integrating forest ecological sightseeing, RV and self-drive campgrounds, wooden cabin accommodations, dining and entertainment, conference hosting, wildlife viewing, drifting in Lengji Bay, golf experiences, wild berry picking, outdoor adventure training, and self-drive loop tours.

In June 2014, the Fishing and Boating Association of the General Administration of Sport of China designated the wetland park as a “China Fishing and Boating Base.”

In August 2014, it was awarded the title of “Employee Recuperation Base” by the Trade Union Federation of Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region.

In 2014, it was ranked among China’s “Top Ten Most Popular Camping Bases” by the First RV Tourism Network.

On February 4, 2015, it was jointly evaluated by the National Tourism Administration and the Ministry of Environmental Protection as a 【National Ecotourism Demonstration Zone】 for the year 2014.

On August 14, 2015, it was promoted to a 【National AAAA-Level Scenic Area】.

In 2016, it was recognized by the Forest Leisure Branch of the China Forestry Industry Federation as one of the first domestic 【China Forest Wellness Bases】.

The Greater Khingan Mountains RV and Self-Drive Camping Base within the scenic area was honored as one of China’s “Top Six Most Popular Campsites” for the years 2012–2013.
