The Busuli Military Base is situated in a mountain valley along a tributary of the Ganhe River in the Greater Khingan Mountains. Its military unit number was 81932, with the code name 607, covering an area of 23.4 square kilometers, and it was under the jurisdiction of the Shenyang Military Region.

In 1967, in accordance with... deployment, to prepare for a possible war, the Shenyang Military Region undertook large-scale national defense construction deep within the virgin forests of the Greater Khingan Mountains. The project spanned 30 years, with a total investment of 2.7 billion RMB. Two engineering regiments, one motorized regiment, and several militia battalions were involved in this massive construction effort. This strategic logistics base weathered the upheavals of the Cold War and made historic contributions to deterring enemy threats and consolidating border defenses.

In 1989, China and Russia reached a friendship agreement, forming a strategic partnership. In 1999, the Shenyang Military Region issued an order for the troops to withdraw from the military base, which was then handed over to local authorities for safekeeping.

The Busuli Military Base contains various cave entrances, and visitors must be accompanied by a guide when touring. Entering some caves blindly without lighting equipment can easily lead to getting lost.

1. General’s Building: Originally built as a residence for Marshal ..., later repurposed as the base’s guesthouse. Marshal Ye stayed here twice, and successive leaders of the Shenyang Military Region also resided here. You can also see the inscription left by Marshal Ye regarding the development of the railway in the Greater Khingan Mountains.

2. Missile Depot: Vehicles such as cars, horses, artillery, and tanks could all drive into the cave. Here, you can fully experience the grandeur of this massive national defense project, including blast-proof doors, leak-proof and waterproof doors, sealed doors, escape and disaster relief maintenance doors, as well as highly engineered suspended caves that maintain constant temperature and humidity. You can even hear the sound of mountain stream water flowing more than a hundred meters below.

3. Northernmost Outpost: On August 21, 1969, to honor Outpost 08, the Shenyang Military Region invited former Vice Chairman ... to inscribe the words “Northernmost Outpost.” This outpost is a battalion-level facility and is the highest-ranked outpost in the north.

4. Underground Oil Depot: Awarded the Military High-Quality Project prize, it consists of two levels

and features massive underground oil tanks rarely seen in the world.

5. Storage Depot: Used for storing various types of military supplies.
