Introduction Among the 5.67 million mu of natural poplar forests in Ejin, there stands a poplar tree revered by locals as the “Divine Tree.” This “Divine Tree” is located 25 kilometers north of Dalaihubu Town, Ejin Banner. The tree stands 23 meters tall with a trunk diameter of 2.07 meters—so wide that it takes six people holding hands to encircle it—making it the king of the Ejin poplars. According to local Mongolian customs and primitive religious beliefs, the Divine Tree is imbued with mystical significance and serves as a spiritual vessel through which locals worship the heavens and deities. At the end of winter and beginning of spring, herders from far and wide come devoutly to the “Divine Tree” to chant scriptures and pray for favorable weather and prosperous livestock. Within a 30-meter radius of this thousand-year-old “Divine Tree,” five sturdy poplar trees have grown, which the herders call the “Mother and Child Trees,” creating a spectacular sight from afar. As the most iconic landscape of the Ejin Poplar Forest, the Divine Tree has become the symbol and emblem of the forest. All domestic and international tourists who come to Ejin Banner to witness the wonders of the poplars make it a point to visit the Divine Tree to admire its majestic and extraordinary beauty.

Dalaihubu Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Ejin Banner and the seat of the banner government. “Dalaihubu” is a transliteration from Mongolian, meaning “abyss as vast as the ocean.” The town was established in 1959. It covers an area of 35 square kilometers and has a population of 10,000. It administers five neighborhood committees: Xincun, Jirigalangtu, Subonao’er, Saihantala, and Jutinglu. Local township enterprises are engaged in commerce, construction, transportation, and food services. The main agricultural products are vegetables, and livestock includes pigs and sheep.
