Tonghetai Stone Forest

The scenic area is located 15 kilometers south of Hailiutu Town, Urad Middle Banner, 30 kilometers from Xire Ancient Temple and the Arqi Mountain Autonomous Region-level Nature Reserve. To the south, it connects with the Mongolian Camp Tourist Resort and the Wubulankou Anti-Japanese Martyrs' Cemetery, and is 50 kilometers from National Highway 110, offering very convenient transportation. It is a wind-eroded landscape, composed of thousands of natural stone pillars. These pillars vary in shape and form naturally, creating a uniquely fascinating scene, and are known as the "Stone Forest of the Frontier."

People have also named the unique stones based on their shapes, adding a touch of poetic charm. The stone forest area is adjacent to the Hailiutu–Wuyuan Highway and surrounded by the Beijing-Tianjin Desert Control Demonstration Zone. Looking around, you’ll see flat terrain covered with lush green grass stretching endlessly, presenting the grandeur of the vast grasslands. This area has served as the filming location for many movies, including *White Horse Flying*, *Princess Wencheng*, and *Iron Riders*. The scenic area covers a total of 12 square kilometers and is home to over 200 species of wild plants such as mountain dahlias and needle grass. It also provides habitat for more than 30 types of wildlife, including hares, partridges, Mongolian skylarks, and whooper swans.

The stone forest area connects to the Xire Temple Tourist Area and Arqi Mountain Nature Reserve to the north, Delingshan Reservoir and Urad Mongolian Camp to the east, and Wubulankou Anti-Japanese Martyrs' Cemetery to the south. Thanks to its strategic location, it can be integrated into multiple tourist routes.
