Changsu Temple

Changsu Temple, as the name suggests, is a temple where the monks have maintained a vegetarian diet year-round, abstaining from meat and fish. Located in Hongfeng Township, Uzhong Banner, it was built in the 22nd year of the Republic of China (1933).

Changsu Temple is a Han-style temple with a brick-and-wood structure, featuring a courtyard enclosed on all four sides. The main hall boasts tiled ridges, upturned eaves, bracket sets, caisson ceilings, and elaborately carved beams and painted rafters. It is grand in scale and majestic in appearance. The front part consists of the main hall, with rooms on the east and west sides, making it the largest Han Buddhist temple in the region. In 1951, the temple was requisitioned by a certain department, and all the monks were secularized. After 1980, following the implementation of the Party's religious policy, the temple was restored.
