The Former Site of the First National Labor Congress is a cultural heritage site protected by Guangzhou Municipality and a patriotic education base.

The Former Site of the First National Labor Congress is located at No. 230 Binjiang West Road. It is a cultural heritage site protected by Guangzhou Municipality, as well as an educational base for Party history and patriotism in Guangzhou.

From May 1 to 6, 1922, the Communist Party of China, under the name of the Chinese Labor Secretariat, held the First National Labor Congress at the Guangdong Machinery General Assembly Hall in Guangzhou. The congress was attended by 173 delegates from 110 labor unions across 12 major cities nationwide. The congress adopted the political slogans proposed by the Communist Party of China against imperialism and feudal warlords, and discussed and passed ten resolutions including the “Strike Assistance Proposal” and the “Eight-Hour Work System.” The convening of the congress marked a new era of national labor unity, affirmed the leadership of the Communist Party of China in the labor movement, and laid the foundation for the further development of the national labor movement.

The Guangdong Machinery Association purchased the Yongde Warehouse on the south bank of the Pearl River. Part of the warehouse was converted into an assembly hall, which has been preserved to this day; the other part was demolished and rebuilt into this building in the early 1920s.
