Cao Chong'en Sculpture Garden

The Cao Chong'en Sculpture Garden is the first sculpture park in China entirely self-funded, self-created, and self-designed by a sculptor.

The Cao Chong'en Sculpture Garden covers an area of 5,000 square meters with an investment of approximately 10 million yuan. Its uniqueness lies in being both a fruit orchard and a sculpture garden. The park houses many stone portrait works created by Professor Cao, such as — and other proletarian revolutionaries, Sun Yat-sen and other modern democratic revolutionaries, Hong Xiuquan and other key patriots from modern history, Lu Xun and other cultural elites of the modern era, — and other patriotic figures from Hong Kong and Macau, as well as international figures like Samaranch, showcasing the charisma of these distinguished individuals.

In addition, there is a collection of thematic artworks depicting significant historical events, such as "Pearls Returned" reflecting the reunification of Hong Kong and Macau, "Maternal Love" expressing the desire for peace and friendship between China and Japan, "Dependence" portraying the Taiwan earthquake, as well as the creation of the 50th Anniversary Memorial of the Hiroshima Bombing in Japan.

Cao Chong'en is a professor at the Guangzhou Academy of Fine Arts and a renowned sculptor, known for his expertise in stone portraiture and thematic creations. With over forty years of experience in sculpture teaching and artistic creation, he is widely recognized both domestically and internationally for his hands-on stone carving. Professor Cao is a versatile and highly prolific sculptor, having created hundreds of various sculpture works to date. He said, “Many people have asked me why I chose to build this sculpture park at my own expense. It’s because many of my works are currently sitting in storage, unseen and unappreciated — a great pity. I hope to display my artworks for the public to see, which is also a way of giving back to society. That’s why I planned this sculpture park.”
