The First Guangdong Customs Memorial Hall is a patriotic education base.

The First Guangdong Customs Memorial Hall is the main structure in the Huangpu Ancient Port Scenic Area. It is a complex of antique-style buildings reconstructed based on historical records and serves as a patriotic education base in Guangzhou. In 2006, the Guangzhou Municipal Government and Haizhu District Government carried out comprehensive renovation and construction within the area of the ancient Huangpu Port to welcome the return visit of the Swedish replica merchant ship "Götheborg" to Guangzhou. With an investment of over 60 million yuan, they developed the Huangpu Ancient Port Scenic Area, which includes four major parts: the Ancient Port Park, the "Götheborg Revisits Guangzhou" memorial sculpture, the waterfront promenade, and the First Guangdong Customs Memorial Hall.

The memorial hall houses a large-scale special exhibition titled "The Flowing Glory," which showcases the resplendent history of Guangzhou’s Maritime Silk Road through photographs, artifacts, models, wax figures, electronic screen visuals, and DVD presentations. The main building of the memorial hall consists of the two-story, two-courtyard Huangpu Tax Office, Yongjing Barracks, comprador office, and the "Ancient Port Legacy" memorial archway.

Since its opening in 2006, the memorial has received nearly one million visitors annually, becoming an important site in downtown Guangzhou for sightseeing, tourism, and patriotic education.
