Haizhu Liji Bridge

Liji Bridge is located in the eastern section of Haizhu Chong and was formerly known as Yaoxi. During the Qing Dynasty and the early years of the Republic of China, Yaoxi was famous for its Twenty-Four Scenic Spots and became a popular tourist destination. At its starting and ending points, two stone bridges were built — the one at the eastern end was called Liji Bridge, and the one at the western end was called Huijin Bridge. These were the first and last scenic spots among the Twenty-Four Scenic Spots of Yaoxi. The two bridges still exist today.

Liji Bridge is approximately 120 meters from the Majiao Bridge on Jiangnan Avenue Middle. In the early Qing Dynasty, it was a wooden bridge called Daiyue Bridge. It was later rebuilt with stone slabs and renamed Liji. The bridge is constructed of granite, about 2.5 meters wide and 23.5 meters long, with stone steps at both ends. The stone railings on both sides of the bridge deck were damaged during the Anti-Japanese War and were restored to their original condition in the early 1990s. The two piers in the water have boat-shaped bases.
