The Ancient Village of Zhanggang

The Ancient Village of Zhanggang is located in Zhanggang Village, Zhongluotan Town. Covering nearly 100 acres, the village buildings have a history of 620 years. The “Yaodou Hu Ancestral Hall,” expanded in the 28th year of the Qianlong reign during the Qing Dynasty, is one of the important structures in the village. Later, after around 400 households of villagers moved out, this cluster of ancient houses was left behind. The old village faces south and, at first glance, is filled with gray-brick, gray-tile houses with four ears, surrounded by a stream of water on all sides. The entrance to the village is a narrow bluestone path no more than one meter wide, creating a tranquil environment that feels like a paradise on earth, reminiscent of the idyllic scenes described by Tao Yuanming.

The Ancient Village of Zhanggang is connected with nearby ecological agricultural projects such as the duck-rice co-farming base and lingzhi chicken farms, forming a unique pastoral scene embodying traditional Lingnan culture. It offers visitors a taste of the simple rural lifestyle and folk customs, making it a place where one can linger and enjoy the closeness to nature.

Zhanggang Village: The Zhanggang Village Committee is located along Guangchen Road in Guangzhou City, covering an area of approximately 2.3 square kilometers. It governs four villager groups with a total population of over 1,100 people, and is a village committee in the eastern part of Zhongluotan Town.

The Zhanggang Village Committee is 31 kilometers from downtown Guangzhou and 2 kilometers from Zhongluotan Town. Agricultural income is currently the main source of the village’s economy.
