Jiekou Beidi Temple

Jiekou Beidi Temple is a cultural heritage site of Conghua District.

Beidi Temple is located on Huancheng Road in Jiekou Town and has been designated as a cultural heritage site by the Conghua Municipal People’s Government. Its exact founding date is unknown, but the temple enshrines Xuanwu, the Northern Water Deity.

The ancient temple is a structure made of brick, wood, and stone, featuring a flush-gable roof. It is two bays deep at 21.35 meters and 10.2 meters wide across three sides, facing northwest and situated southeast. The front bay has one stone column at the facade, together with two rear round columns, supporting a 17-bay through-tenon beam frame. Three columns bear the load — the front two are square granite stone pillars, while the rear ones are round wooden columns resting on stone bases. The roof has a slight upward curve, covered with plain tiles and trimmed with green glazed tiles. It includes water spouts, and the central ridge is decorated with a grey-plastered relief depicting “The Eight Immortals Crossing the Sea.”
