Shangzhai Village Tomb

The Shangzhai Village Tomb is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Shangzhai Village Tomb is located on the southern slope of a hill in Shangzhai Village, Zhousuo, Dungang Town, Shixing County. In 1982, one Jin Dynasty tomb was excavated. The tomb bricks bear an inscription reading “Erected by the Yang family in the fourth year of Xianhe (329 AD).” The tomb measures 4.2 meters in length, 1.1 meters in width, and 1.05 meters in height. Six celadon-glazed porcelain bowls, one iron scissors, and one bronze mirror decorated with four dragons and eight phoenixes were unearthed.

Dungang Town: Dungang Town is an important part of the Shixing Basin, which was originally part of the ancient Chinese landmass. Over the long course of history, due to warfare and natural disasters, people from the Central Plains (now regions such as Fujian and Jiangxi) migrated southward several times. They settled, lived, and worked on the fertile land in the Shixing Basin — the largest basin in northern Guangdong — where they thrived and multiplied across generations.

Due to the historical needs for garrisoning troops and storing grain, storage facilities and military camps known as “suo” (所) and “ying” (营) were established in major villages across the original Shixing area.
