Shixing Confucian Temple

Shixing Confucian Temple is a cultural heritage site protected by Shixing County.

Shixing Confucian Temple is located on the campus of Shixing Middle School in the eastern part of Shixing County. According to the 1926 (15th year of the Republic of China) *Shixing County Annals*, the temple was first built during the Jiading era of the Song Dynasty, and was relocated several times thereafter. The existing structures were reconstructed in the seventh year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1827).

The temple faces south and has a rectangular floor plan, with a total width of 39 meters from east to west and a total depth of 94 meters from north to south, covering an area of 3,666 square meters. Except for the Dacheng Hall, which retains much of its original appearance, the other buildings have been altered to varying degrees.

The Dacheng Hall is built on a 0.8-meter-high platform, featuring a double-eave hip-and-gable roof and a post-and-lintel beam structure. It is 20.19 meters wide across five bays and 18.88 meters deep across three bays, covering an area of 394.97 square meters. The hall is richly decorated with carved beams and painted rafters, giving it a magnificent appearance.

In 1990, it was designated as a cultural heritage site by the People's Government of Shixing County.
