Liuwu Village Residential Buildings

The Liuwu Village Residential Buildings are located at the Liuwu Village Committee, Liuwu Village, Siqian Town, Shixing County, Shaoguan City. The village consists of residential houses and enclosed towers. The residences face south and are situated to the north, spanning 52 meters in width and 35 meters in depth. In the middle is the ancestral hall (main hall), flanked by residential buildings. The residences have three gateways—east, west, and southeast—each referred to as a “head gate.” The enclosed tower is 74.5 meters long from east to west and 26 meters wide. On the western side is an inscribed plaque reading “Wei Hall,” and on the eastern side, one that reads “Glory”—both from the 24th year of the Daoguang reign during the Qing Dynasty (1844). It has approximately four stories and is about 13 meters tall, with the outer layer forming a square within a square layout. The residences and enclosed towers are built from blue bricks and wood, forming a cohesive structure. They hold significant value for the study of residential architecture of the Hakka people during the Qing Dynasty.
