Dao Gu Rock

Dao Gu Rock is located directly south of Kongbu Village in Guzhu Town, about 4 kilometers from Guzhu Market. Legend has it that during the late Song Dynasty, a 17-year-old girl surnamed Zou from the upper part of Kongbu village ran away to escape an arranged marriage forced upon her by her family. A few days later, an elderly shepherd noticed a beautiful young woman carrying water from a well near the rock toward a cave. Puzzled, he followed her. When he reached the cave, the woman was nowhere to be seen—only a female corpse. Upon identification, it turned out to be the runaway girl. The locals believed she had attained enlightenment and become immortal, so they raised funds to build a temple at the foot of the rock, where they placed a statue of a goddess for people to worship. That’s how Dao Gu Rock got its name. In front of the temple is a platform that can accommodate nearly 100 people. Beside the rock is a natural spring well whose water is cool in summer and warm in winter, refreshing and sweet to the taste. From atop, you can enjoy a distant view of the surrounding countryside, a scene of picturesque beauty.
