The Former Revolutionary Sites of the Soviet Area in Zijin County are located in the Soviet Area Town of Zijin County, Heyuan City, Guangdong Province. This town was officially named "Soviet Area" in 1958 by the State Council as a renowned revolutionary base. During the revolutionary war period, the Soviet Area was one of the earliest regions in China to establish peasant associations, peasant militias, and rural revolutionary bases. It served as an important part of the Haifeng-Lufeng Revolutionary Base as well as the Hai-Lu-Hui-Zi (Haifeng, Lufeng, Huiyang, and Zijin) Revolutionary Base, and was the site of the early Zijin County Committee of the Communist Party of China, the Zijin County Soviet Government, and the Hai-Lu-Zi Soviet Government. On this red land, revolutionary pioneers such as Zhou Enlai, Peng Pai, and Xu Xiangqian personally visited to guide work. Numerous revolutionaries fought bravely here, leaving behind many preserved revolutionary sites and rich resources for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education.

The Former Revolutionary Sites of the Soviet Area in Zijin County mainly include 20 revolutionary sites and memorial structures such as the former site of the Zijin County Soviet Government, the former site of the Hai-Lu-Zi Soviet Government, the former site of the Paozi Township Peasant Association (County General Peasant Association), the former headquarters of the Red 2nd Division, the former site of the Red Army Hospital, the former site of the Red Army Arsenal, the former headquarters of the 49th Regiment of the Red 11th Army, and the "Blood Field" site. These sites carry the imprints of history and have left behind a precious spiritual legacy for future generations.

In 2010, the Former Revolutionary Sites of the Soviet Area in Zijin County were designated as a "Municipal-level Patriotic Education Base." In 2011, they were further recognized as a "Provincial-level Patriotic Education Base." In October 2006, Zijin County established a management team for the Former Revolutionary Sites of the Soviet Area and assigned full-time guides. The site includes a consultation and reception office, a distribution map of the revolutionary sites, and an exhibition hall of historical relics.
