Located on the river section below the dam of Shuangxia Reservoir in Baocheng and Jishui Natural Villages, Jinkou Village, Huangtang Town, 35 kilometers northwest of Zijin County and 38 kilometers from Heyuan City. Formerly known as the China Southern Slalom Training Base, it is now the Heyuan Amateur Sports School Slalom Training Base. The training base was first built in April 1999, featuring a 340-meter-long course with a total drop of 6.5 meters, 21–25 slalom gates, and a water flow rate of 8–10 cubic meters per second (the Shuangxia Reservoir, which supplies water for the slalom course, has a capacity of 1.6 million cubic meters and can stably maintain an 8 cubic meters/second flow for one day). After inspection and acceptance, it meets international top-tier standards as a high-quality training base. In 2002, it hosted the slalom events of the 11th Guangdong Provincial Games, and in 2003, it held the National Slalom Championship. In 2007, the provincial government allocated 5 million yuan to standardize and upgrade the training base’s facilities, including the course. On May 28, 2009, the Heyuan Base for National Aquatic Sports Management Center’s Slalom Reserve Talents was officially inaugurated here, marking the nation’s first high-level national slalom reserve talent base. From May 28 to 31, 2009, the XI National Games Canoe Slalom Qualifiers and the 2009 National Slalom Championship were held at this base. In March 2012, the National Slalom Championship and Olympic Trials took place here.

Huangtang Town: [Brief] Huangtang Town is located in the northwestern part of Zijin County, bordering Fucheng to the east, Baipu to the west, Qingxi to the south, and Kanghe of Dongyuan County to the north. It was originally established as Huangtang Commune in October 1958, restructured as Huangtang District in September 1983, and renamed Huangtang Town in April 1987. The town government is situated in Huangtang Market, 29 kilometers from the county seat. In 1998, the town covered a total area of 230.6 square kilometers, including 194.6 square kilometers of mountainous land and 1,279 hectares of arable land.
