Former Site of the Paizi Township Peasant Association and the County General Peasant Association

The former site of the Paizi Township Peasant Association and the County General Peasant Association is a cultural heritage site protected by Zijin County, a classic red tourism attraction, and a patriotic education base.

The former site of the Paizi Township Peasant Association and the County General Peasant Association is located in Paizi Village, Suqu Town. Built during the Republican era, it faces south with a northern orientation and covers a construction area of over 150 square meters. It was rebuilt in 2011.

In January 1923, Zhang Ziyu from Shanzipi, Suqu, commissioned by Peng Pai, returned to the Suqu area with 2,000 peasant association membership certificates. In March, the Paizi Township Peasant Association was established, with Zhang Ziyu as the president, and Zhong Leshan and Huang Peixian as vice presidents. It was under the leadership of the Haifeng General Peasant Association, thus igniting the spark of the peasant movement in Zijin. In July, peasant representatives from various townships in Zijin gathered in Paizi to establish the Zijin County General Peasant Association and the Longwo District Peasant Association. The assembly elected Zhong Yiqiang as the president of the Zijin County General Peasant Association, Zhong Leshan as the vice president, and Ye Tiehun as the secretary. Zhang Ziyu served as the president of the Longwo District Peasant Association, with Ye Guang as the vice president. After the failure of the Great Revolution, the associations were forced to disband.

In January 2009, it was designated as a key cultural relics protection unit by the Zijin County Government. In March 2009, it was announced as a patriotic education base by the Zijin County Party Committee and County Government. In November 2010, it was recognized as a patriotic education base by the Heyuan Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government. In June 2011, it was listed as a patriotic education base by the Publicity Department of the Guangdong Provincial Committee.
