The Yirong Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument is located in Yirong Town, Zijin County. In June 1948, the Zijin People’s Anti-Recruitment Brigade was reorganized into the Fourth Regiment of the Guangdong-Gan Border Detachment of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army, forming the Zijin Battalion. That same month, over 400 troops from the 92nd Brigade of the Nationalist 160th Division launched attacks on Andun, Songkeng, Shangyi, Haoyi, Lantang, and Qingxi. The puppet township head of Qingxi, Liu Jianming, the landlord Lan Yuan, and the traitor Lan Suzeng colluded with the Nationalist army to surround the Qingxi-based Changchun Squadron of the Zijin Battalion under the cover of night. Outnumbered and outgunned, 27 comrades, including Squadron Commander Lai Yan, were killed in action during the breakout, while more than 30 others were captured. Among them, four individuals including Instructor Lai Fangping were taken to Guangzhou and executed. To commemorate these revolutionary martyrs, the CPC Zijin County Committee and the Zijin County People’s Government erected the Yirong Revolutionary Martyrs' Monument in 1981. The monument is inscribed with “Eternal Glory to the Revolutionary Martyrs,” and the base lists the names of 19 fallen soldiers.
