Former Residence of Liu Naihong

The former residence of Liu Naihong is located at No. 28, Xiahou Street, Zicheng Town, Zijin County.

Liu Naihong (1900–1930) joined the Communist Party of China in 1923. In 1925, he participated in the Second Eastern Expedition of the National Revolutionary Army. In 1927, he took part in the “April 26” armed uprising in Zijin and served as the captain of the Zijin Brigade of the Workers’ and Peasants’ Revolutionary Army. He was killed in battle at Zhangbei, Fengshun County, in 1930.

The residence was built during the Qing Dynasty, facing southeast with a northwest orientation. It has three bays and three courtyards. The total width is 11.1 meters and the total depth is 25.2 meters. It features a purlin and gable wall structure, with granite stone strip foundations, blue brick walls, a blue brick-paved floor, and a flush-gable roof. The first and second courtyards have screen doors with wooden openwork carvings, and the left-side secondary room has been converted into an apartment building.

In the early years of the People’s Republic of China, it was called Jincheng Town and belonged to the Fucheng District and the First District. In 1958, it was part of the Fucheng Commune, and in 1964, it became the Urban Commune. In 1981, Zicheng Town was established. Located in the eastern part of the county, it covers an area of 14.3 square kilometers and has a population of 87,000. Provincial highways such as Heyuan–Shantou and Huizhou–Wuhua pass through the town.
