Former Residence of Lai Yanguang

The former residence of Lai Yanguang is a classic red tourism attraction.

The former residence of Lai Yanguang is located at No. 89, Beimen Street, Anmin Neighborhood Committee, Zicheng Town, Zijin County.

Lai Yanguang (1897–1927) joined the Communist Party of China in 1922. In 1923, he became the leader of the first Party cell established in Zijin County. He participated in the First Eastern Expedition in 1925. In 1926, he attended the Third National Labor Congress as a delegate and served on the Credentials Committee, leading the labor movement in Chao’an. In April 1927, he was arrested by the reactionary Kuomintang and imprisoned, then executed in Shantou in September at the age of 30.

The residence was originally built during the Qing Dynasty, facing south with a north orientation. It features two side halls plus a rear section, along with additional rear rooms and a right wing. The structure spans 14 meters in width and 18 meters in depth, with the main gate located on the right side, opening east to west. The rear section has collapsed, leaving only the gate tower and the front part of the right wing.
