Former Residences of Liu Ersong and Liu Qinxī

The former residences of Liu Ersong and Liu Qinxī are located at No. 45 Beihé Street, Ānmín Residents' Committee, Zǐchéng Town, Zǐjīn County. Liu Ersong and Liu Qinxī were brothers. Liu Ersong (1899–1927) joined the Communist Party of China in 1921. He once served as a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League, Secretary of the Party Committee for the Liangguang Region, Chairman of the Guangzhou Workers’ Congress, Executive Member of the All-China Federation of Trade Unions, and more. He was an early member of the CPC, a pioneer of the Guangdong youth movement, and an outstanding leader of the Guangdong labor movement. In 1927, during the “April 15” Incident in Guangzhou, Liu Ersong was unfortunately arrested and executed in April in the White Swan Pond section of the Pearl River. Liu Qinxī (1896–1933) joined the Communist Party of China in 1922. In 1927, he led the “April 26” uprising in Zǐjīn, in 1928 commanded his troops to cooperate with the Red Second Army in capturing Nánlǐng, in 1930 served as Secretary of the Northwest Branch Committee of the CPC Min-Guang-Yue Region, in 1931 was transferred to Shanghai for underground work, in 1932 was arrested by British Hong Kong authorities in Hong Kong, and in 1933 was sent back to Guangzhou and executed. The residence was originally built in the Qing Dynasty, facing south. It was burned down and demolished by the Kuomintang authorities after the “April 26” armed uprising in 1927, leaving only a flat ground. In 1978, Liu Qinxī’s son Liu Naichāo rebuilt a two-story cement house on the original site, measuring 6 meters in width and 9 meters in depth, with one hall and two bedrooms. It was reconstructed again in 2011. Inside the residence are currently preserved the “Honorary Certificate for Families of Revolutionary Martyrs” issued by the Central People's Government of the People's Republic of China in 1952, as well as historical materials about the lives of Liu Ersong and Liu Qinxī.

In January 2011, it was announced as a Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit by the Zǐjīn County Government. In June 2011, it was designated as a Patriotic Education Base by the Heyuán Municipal Party Committee and Municipal Government.
