The Former Site of the Command Post of the Guangdong-Guangxi-Hunan Border Column for Liberating Zijin County Town is located at the Gospel Church in Heshuwan, Wushi Town, Zijin County.

On April 21, 1949, Chairman Mao Zedong and Commander-in-Chief Zhu De issued the order to march across the country. The People's Liberation Army, with millions of troops, forcefully crossed the Yangtze River, a formidable natural barrier, and launched an unprecedented large-scale comprehensive advance into the vast areas that were still not liberated. In mid-May, Yin Linping, Commander and Political Commissar of the Guangdong-Guangxi-Hunan Border Column, along with Zuo Hongtao, Director of the Political Department, led the main forces of the Column— the First Regiment (commanded by He Qing), the Third Regiment (commanded by Ruan Haitian), and an Independent Battalion totaling over 1,000 soldiers. After sweeping away the remaining Kuomintang forces in Wuhua and Lufeng, they moved to Longwo in Zijin, defeated one battalion of the Kuomintang army stationed there, and then advanced directly toward Zijin County Town. The command post was set up at the Gospel Church in Heshuwan, while the troops were stationed in the areas of Heshuwan and Shima Corner.

At 5:00 AM on May 18, the Border Column Headquarters issued the order to attack the town, officially commencing the liberation of the county town. On the 22nd, Zijin County Town was liberated. On the 23rd, the Border Column Headquarters and Political Department jointly issued a notice to reassure the public and a proclamation for taking over the administration of Zijin County Town. On the 25th, the CCP Zijin County Committee and the People's Government of Zijin County were established. Ye Feng was appointed County Party Secretary, Pan Zuyue as Deputy Secretary, and Li Mengchi and Ye Yin as committee members. Pan Zuyue served as County Magistrate, with Li Mengchi and Wen Jingyao as Deputy Magistrates.
