Former Site of the Rear Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party’s Dongjiang Region

The Former Site of the Rear Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party’s Dongjiang Region is a cultural relic protection unit of Zijin County, a classic red tourism destination, and a patriotic education base.

The Former Site of the Rear Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party’s Dongjiang Region is located on Sanxiang, Shuidong Village, Guzhu Town, Zijin County.

In February 1941, the Rear Special Committee of the Chinese Communist Party’s Dongjiang Region was established in Laolong Town, Longchuan County, with Liang Weilin as the secretary. It governed counties including Zijin, Wuhua, Longchuan, Heyuan, Heping, Lianping, and Xinfeng, with over 1,100 party members. After the Guangdong Northern Provincial Committee of the CCP was destroyed by the enemy, the Rear Dong Committee relocated to Chenwu in Sanxiang, Shuidong Village, Guzhu Town in March 1943, where it continued to lead the people of Dongjiang in the anti-Japanese salvation movement. In June 1946, when the Dongjiang Column withdrew northward, the headquarters of the Rear Dong Committee also moved away.

The site consists of two brick-tiled bungalows, originally built during the Republican era, facing from southeast to northwest. The structure is 6.6 meters wide and 5.3 meters deep, with a flush gable roof, gray tiles, brick walls, and a stone foundation. It has 13 purlins, and a well known as the “Anti-Japanese Well” is dug nearby.

In June 1987, it was designated as a key cultural relic protection unit by the Zijin County Government. In January 1994, it was declared a patriotic education base by the Zijin County Party Committee and County Government.
