Qiuqianhu Mass Grave

Qiuqianhu Mass Grave is a cultural tourism attraction.

Located at Qiuqianhu Mass Grave Corner in Sanjiang Village, Anliu Town, this mass grave was built in the second year of the Guangxu reign during the Qing Dynasty (1876). It was initiated by Peng Guangzu, the magistrate of Changle County (now Wuhua County). The grave contains over 1,400 sets of remains, all unclaimed bones from local graves, many of which are believed to be those of unidentified soldiers who perished in battles between the Tiandihui rebels of Guangdong and Qing government forces during the Xianfeng era of the Qing Dynasty. The grave complex consists of 1,449 tombs arranged in a fan-shaped layout, all constructed with lime and sand. It stretches 30.5 meters in length and 40 meters in width, covering an area of nearly 1,300 square meters. The main tomb at the center is in the shape of an armchair, while the smaller surrounding tombs—ranging in curvature and forming 33 layers—are earthen burial mounds that encircle the main tomb on its sides and rear, creating a striking visual impact.
