Former Residence of Zeng Guohua

The former residence of Zeng Guohua is a Meizhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The former residence of Zeng Guohua is located in Fenghuang Village, Qiling Town, Wuhua County, Meizhou City. Dating back to the Republican era, it is an important modern historical site and representative architecture.

On March 13, 2020, the Meizhou Municipal People's Government designated it as part of the seventh batch of Meizhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Zeng Guohua (1910–1978)

Zeng Guohua was from Wuhua, Guangdong. His father was a clerk at a local chamber of commerce, and the family lived in poverty. At the age of three, he was sold to another family and suffered mistreatment. In June 1924, during the 13th year of the Republic of China, he joined the Guangdong Army as a soldier. Later, his unit was reorganized into the Fourth Army of the National Revolutionary Army, with which he participated in the Northern Expedition. After the failure of the Great Revolution, he went with the 52nd Army to Jiangxi. In August 1931, during the Third Encirclement Campaign against the Central Soviet Area, he was liberated and joined the Chinese Workers' and Peasants' Red Army. Fenghuang Village: Located in the southern part of Qiling Town, Wuhua County, Meizhou City, Fenghuang Village sits near the Qiling market town. The village administers 31 villager groups, with 837 registered households and a population of 3,341. It covers a total area of 2.98 square kilometers, including 793 acres of arable land. The average annual temperature is 20°C, and annual precipitation is around 1,500 mm, characterized by a subtropical climate. Major cash crops include star fruit and Shuanghua plums.
