Xie Jinyuan Memorial Hall

The Xie Jinyuan Memorial Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Jiaoling County, a classic red tourism site, and a patriotic education base.

The Xie Jinyuan Memorial Hall is situated in Jiankeng Village, Xinpu Town, approximately 100 meters from the former residence of Xie Jinyuan. The project was funded with 300,000 yuan from Hong Kong industrialist Mr. Zou Xichang, 40,000 yuan from Mr. Xie Hansheng, 30,000 yuan from Mr. Dai Shikang, 60,000 yuan from Mr. Xu Xinchang, and over one million yuan raised by the county. Construction started on October 17, 2000, and the hall was completed and inaugurated on July 13, 2001. Covering a total area of 3,082 square meters with a building area of 862 square meters, it is a three-story structure featuring a novel design and attractive appearance. The hall houses exhibition rooms for Xie's life achievements, cultural relics, calligraphy and paintings, as well as storage and reception rooms, along with supporting facilities such as a plaza, statue, and green spaces. The total investment was nearly 2 million yuan. The rich exhibits in the hall showcase the glorious patriotic life of General Xie. Together with his former residence, statue, and memorial monument, the site serves as a place for public tribute. In 2001, it was designated as a county-level cultural relic protection unit by the People’s Government of Jiaoling County.

Xie Jinyuan (1905–1941), courtesy name Zhongmin, was of Han ethnicity and a native of Jiaoling County, Meizhou, Guangdong Province. A graduate of the fourth class of the Whampoa Military Academy, he held various military positions including platoon leader, company commander, battalion commander, division staff officer, brigade staff director, deputy regimental commander, and regimental commander. A renowned anti-Japanese hero, he led the "Eight Hundred Heroes" in the defense of the Sihang Warehouse during the Battle of Shanghai, inspiring the nation's resistance spirit. Jiankeng Village: Located in Xinpu Town, Jiaoling County, Meizhou City, Jiankeng Village administers 23 villager groups, with 606 registered households and a population of 2,265. The village spans a total area of 5.72 square kilometers, with cultivated land covering 1,940 mu. The average annual temperature is 21.3°C, and annual precipitation is about 1,600 mm, characterized by a subtropical climate.
