Likeng Walled Village

Likeng Walled Village is located in Likeng, Guangfu, Jiaoling County. It is a large enclosed dragon-style house belonging to the Luo family. Originally built during the Jiaqing era of the Qing Dynasty (1796–1820), it faces east and sits west. At its center stands a two-courtyard ancestral hall. The entrance opens onto a front courtyard (heping), in front of which lies a fish pond. On either side are two wing rooms, and behind are three rows of circular houses encircling the structure. The houses are interconnected by corridors, enclosed by gate towers on the outside—facilitating easy access while ensuring security. From a distance, it resembles three coiled giant dragons. The walls of the walled village are built from rammed clay. The entire complex contains over 200 rooms, housing more than 50 households of the same clan. Between the houses, a series of courtyards provide space for drying items in sunny weather and draining water when it rains, offering both light and ventilation as well as acting as firebreaks in case of fire.
