Daxiaba High Arch Canal

Daxiaba High Arch Canal is a cultural heritage site protected by Jiaoling County.

Daxiaba High Arch Canal is located in Aiche Village, Xinpuzhen, Jiaoling County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province. It was built in the 26th year of the Republic of China (1937). The road surface was renovated in 2001. Stretching approximately 2 kilometers in a northeast–southwest direction with winding curves, the canal is about 2 meters wide with a total area of around 4,000 square meters. The canal includes 42 arches, each with an arch height of 3.20 meters and a width of 1.40 meters. The front section, about 340 meters long, consists of an arch bridge and an irrigation canal, with a pedestrian path on the left and an irrigation channel on the right; the rear section, about 1,660 meters long, is the water canal. This structure functions as a combined concrete arched bridge and irrigation canal that serves irrigation, transportation, and flood control purposes, locally known as the “High Arch Canal.” The High Arch Canal has been well preserved and still irrigates about 400 acres of farmland. It is the only hydraulic engineering project in Jiaoling County that integrates irrigation, roadway, and flood prevention functions, making it of significant value for the study of hydraulic constructions during the Republic of China period in the region. In 2010, it was designated as part of the fourth batch of county-level cultural heritage sites with the approval of the Jiaoling County People's Government.

The village administers 20 villager groups, with 526 registered households and a population of 1,999. The total area of the village is 2.9 square kilometers, including 780 acres of arable land.
