Qiaocun Ancient Village is a cultural tourism attraction.

Qiaocun is located in Nankou Town, Meixian District, about 12 kilometers from the county seat. It is an ancient village with a history of over 500 years and is renowned as a hometown of overseas Chinese. The village boasts beautiful ecological scenery and simple local customs. In addition to fields of rapeseed flowers, it features 31 stunning, century-old Hakka walled houses with diverse and distinctive architectural styles. Among them, the “Nanhua Youlu,” which is over 100 years old, is one of the largest and best-preserved ancient residences in the Hakka region and was included in the Guangdong Provincial Cultural Relics Protection Units as early as 2002. In 2006, Qiaocun was designated as a specialized village for self-drive tourism. On May 3, 2012, Qiaocun was named a “China Ancient Village (Traditional Hakka Residences)” and enjoys the reputation of being “China’s most typical ancient village of Hakka walled houses.” At the same time, Qiaocun has drawn attention from the film and television industry, having been the filming location for movies such as “The Red Detachment of Women” and “Filial Daughter Caijin.”

Ye Jianying (1897–1986), originally named Ye Yiwei and styled Cangbai, was from Meixian. He was a great proletarian revolutionary, statesman, and military strategist of China. He was one of the founders of the Chinese People’s Liberation Army and a marshal of the People’s Republic of China. He was also an outstanding leader of the Communist Party of China, the People’s Republic of China, and the Chinese People’s Liberation Army.

Nankou Town: Nankou Town is located in the southwest of Meixian, about 10 kilometers from downtown Meizhou. It was formed by the merger of the former Nankou Town, Yaoshang Town, and Hesu Town, and is adjacent to the Meixian High-Tech Industrial Development Zone.
