Qiu Family Dihua Residence

Qiu Family Dihua Residence is located in Liangmei Village, Baiwu Town, Meixian District. Completed in 1918, the residence covers an area of 5,200 square meters, with a building footprint of 2,270 square meters, and faces southwest from the northeast. It is a traditional Hakka enclosed round house (wei-long wu) featuring two halls, four wings, one encircling dragon structure, with a front courtyard (heping) and a crescent-shaped pond (yuechi). The entrance couplet of Dihua Residence reads: “棣棠竝茂，华萼相辉”, with the hidden phrase “Dihua” (棣华), taken from the *Book of Songs · Minor Odes*: “How fair is the blossom of the tangdi tree; How rich its fragrance and how bright its hue. Now among mankind is there any so kind as brothers are to you?” This reflects the Hakka people’s adherence to Confucian ideals of the “Three Cardinal Guides and the Five Constant Virtues”.
