Chashan Shaode Hall is a cultural relic protection unit of Guangdong Province.

Chashan Shaode Hall is located in Dengta Village, Shuiche Town, Meixian District, Meizhou City. Shaode Hall is the oldest surviving building in the village to date, built during the Ming Dynasty in the hip-and-gable style. It serves as the ancestral hall of the Huang family in Chashan Village. The main façade of Shaode ancestral hall features a prominent front ridge with an inwardly curved large slope and a significantly higher bracketing structure compared to the rear façade, giving the hall an imposing presence.

Having withstood 500 years of wind and rain, Shaode Hall covers an area of over 4,900 square meters. It follows a single-hall, three-wing layout in the hip-and-gable style, with a width of seven bays. The main ridge is higher in the front and lower in the back, featuring architectural elements reminiscent of the Tang Dynasty. Constructed with rammed earth, gray tiles, and a combination of wood, stone, and earthen materials, its shape is inspired by the bat-shaped mountain behind it—hence resembling a bat. The family genealogy records this resemblance as “a bat hanging on the wall.” The golden plaque inscribed with “Shaode Hall” was handwritten by the renowned calligrapher Huang Miaozhi.
