Zhe Lu (Former Residence of Qiu Zhe)

Zhe Lu (Former Residence of Qiu Zhe) is a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Heritage Site.

The former residence of Qiu Zhe is located in Da Huang Village, Songkou Town, Meixian District, Meizhou City, and is called "Zhe Lu" after Qiu Zhe’s “courtesy name.” Constructed in 1925, Zhe Lu covers a construction area of approximately 2,500 square meters. It is a two-story residential building that blends Chinese and Western architectural styles with a four-sloped roof design, and is a provincial-level cultural heritage site.

Historical records show that Qiu Zhe co-founded the Songkou Physical Education School in Songkou with Xie Yiqiao, among others, turning the school into a platform for promoting the political ideals of the Tongmenghui and training key personnel. He also took the opportunity of teaching in Songkou to open the "Gongyu Yuan" rice shop in the town as a secret contact point for the Tongmenghui.

A memorial hall for Qiu Zhe, named "Si Zhe Tang," has been established in the village sages’ exhibition hall of Da Huang Village. "Si Zhe Tang" was funded by Qiu Zhe’s children and displays his bronze statue along with an introduction to his life and achievements as a tribute to him.

In 2015, it was designated as a Guangdong Provincial Cultural Heritage Site by the People’s Government of Guangdong Province.
