Former Residence of Wen Mingjian

The former residence of Wen Mingjian is a Meizhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Unit.

The former residence of Wen Mingjian is located in Bingcun Town, Meixian District, Meizhou City. It dates back to the Republican era and is considered an important modern historical site and representative architecture.

On March 24, 2017, the Meizhou Municipal People's Government designated the former residence of Wen Mingjian as part of the fifth batch of Meizhou Municipal Cultural Relics Protection Units.

Wen Mingjian (1907–1991), whose given name was Hongsheng, courtesy name Mingjing, and alias Zuoci, was a native of Hongguang Village, Bingcun Town, Meixian.

Gifted and studious from a young age, he had a strong passion for martial arts. In 1925, while attending his second year of high school at Meizhou Middle School, amid the first cooperation between the Kuomintang and the Communist Party and a surge in revolutionary fervor, Wen Mingjian resolutely left his studies to join the military. He was admitted to the Chaozhou Branch of the Whampoa Military Academy. After graduation, he served as a political instructor in a unit of the National Revolutionary Army and participated in the Second Eastern Expedition. Bingcun Town: [Location and Area]

Bingcun Town is situated in the eastern part of Meixian, 20 kilometers from Meicheng. It lies between 24°18′–24°20′ north latitude and 118°18′–116°23′ east longitude. To the southeast it neighbors Sanxiang, to the southwest connects with Baiwu and Xiyang, to the northeast adjoins Yanyang and Songnan, and to the northwest borders Chengdong and Baidu. The total area of the town is 170.7 square kilometers.
